Currently only some of our rooms are equipped with Air Conditioning. If you desire Air Conditioning in the cool mountain air then please make the request with your reservation. The only rooms with Air Conditioning are the Deluxe Queens, so please reserve a Deluxe Queen room if you desire Air Conditioning during this time of transition from "Air Conditioned by Nature" to equipping all of our rooms with Air Conditioning. The Shady Lawn Lodge offers lodging & accommodations, from traditional motel rooms with at least queen size beds to king bed suites, to an all out 2 bedroom apartment; all located in Newland, North Carolina, the county seat for Avery County, North Carolina.  Avery county is the ski capitol of the south.  Avery county offers superior golfing, excellent trout fishing, usually fly fishing, attractions as Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, Sugar Mountain Resort, Ski Beech, the famous Hampton Country Store, and oh so much more.  Newland is fast becoming a destination for tourists coming to The High Country.
